Welcome to the 2018 ECBS Bead Retreat at the Ramada Plaza Beach Resort on Okaloosa Island.
We are excied about the wonderful variety of classes offered this year. Registration begins now and ends January 5, 2018. Registration is $45 for ECBS members and $75 for non-members.
Teachers will determine the cost of their classes and kit fees. All students will pay the teachers directly. It will be left to the teachers discretion as to whether they will require payment in advance to secure your spot or whether you can pay at the time of the class.
After the registration deadline has passed you will be notified of the classes you were able join, or of the alternate class you selected if your first choice was full. The teacher’s contact information will also be provided. The teachers will be given a student roster with student contact information.
They will then confirm the class requirements and payment options.
We will miss teachers Marcia Balonis and Pam Garbig this year due to the unexpected passing of Marcia’s husband in October. We hope they will be able to join us again next year.
We welcome a few new teachers this year: Marilynn Ordonez is a local jewelry artist who has taught the techniques of wire, beading, and polymer clay at Jo Ann’s Fabrics and A Bead and Crystal House. She has been published multiple times in the Polymer Cafe magazine for her work in polymer clay. This includes a Silver Medal in the Fire Mountain Gems Creative Clay Contest 2015. You will find Marilynn at The Palafox Market on Saturdays in downtown Pensacola. Tara Gifford of Blue Girl Beading in Gulf Shores, Alabama. In business since 2003, she has successfully built her business to offer a great selection of beads, findings and classes.
Erin O’Toole and Tracy Nelligan of Turtle Moon Arts in St. Petersburg, FL. Tracy has been a silversmith for 40 years and a glass artist for 20 years. Erin manages the business. They have taught for the last 16 years in a variety of classes including viking knit, kumihimo, cold connects, fold forming, wire working and bead works. Tracy has exhibited her work
in many galleries and her jewelry is currently in Florida Craft Art in St. Petersburg, FL. They both reside in and have a studio in St. Petersburg.
Susan Larsen is a retired elementary school teacher living in Milton, FL. She enjoys teaching. She began stringing in 2008 and graduated to bead weaving in 2010. She has taught at the former Danish Princess Bead Store in Milton, a Carnival Cruise, and currently teaches at Patty Briggs’ pop-up shop in Milton.
Tahnja Pyle is a former ECBS member who enjoys beading and is welcomed back into the fold. And we are happy to have our returning teachers from last year: Ronda Stevens, Eleanor Cutts, Bobbi Dorner, Melody MacDuffee, Mary K McGraw, Jan Kurtz, Meredith Hartsfield, Becky Adkins, and Diane Ostrander.
Shaunna Lemasters, our wonderful masseuse, will be joining us again this year. She will bring a portable sauna if there is enough interest. Contact her at firstname.lastname@example.org or phone 850-586-2200.
We will again hold a raffle before each class and a 50/50 raffle. It seemed to be a success last year and the prizes were very nice. Thank you for your donations.
Room rates have been reduced this year and range from $69 for no view, to $99 for beachfront rooms. Be sure to mention ECBS Bead Retreat when you make your reservations. Call them at 800-472-1790.
